Sonamita Chakma is a focused and determined 15-year-old girl from Bandarban in south-eastern Bangladesh. Calm by nature, she enjoys practising her handwriting and playing spiking (volleyball). Often seen in her favourite blue outfit, Sonamita carries quiet confidence and a strong sense of responsibility, which guide her approach to learning and daily life.
She lives in a large, close-knit household with her parents, siblings, and grandparents. The family relies on a modest income from manual and agricultural work, requiring careful management of resources. Despite these challenges, education is highly valued at home, and Sonamita is encouraged to remain committed to her studies and personal development. Through JAAGO, Sonamita needs BDT 2,500 per month to support her education, learning materials, guidance, and adolescent development activities.
Sonamita dreams of becoming a police officer so she can protect and serve her community. With consistent sponsorship, she can continue accessing education and opportunities that strengthen her confidence and skills. A monthly support of BDT 2,500 can help Sonamita move towards a positive future and inspire other girls in her community.
